Founded in 2014, AgencySparks has helped brands expand their network by connecting them to specialist marketing agencies. The idea behind AgencySparks stemmed from the terrible disconnect between the agency-client relationship. Agencies rely on referrals from past clients or friends for new business. Clients rely on their limited network or the outdated and grueling RFP process to find “reputable” agencies. The result, more often than not, is a less-than-ideal match.
Until this day, AgencySparks commonly encounters the question of, “Wait, what is it that you guys do again?”
The answer? We connect brands with thoroughly-vetted, specialist marketing agencies.
Founder and CEO
Joe Koufman has always been a connector of people. In his 20+ years working in marketing and business development, he has built out a large, distinguished network of corporate and agency contacts.
Joe spent over six years as SVP of Marketing and Business Development at Engauge (now Moxie, part of Publicis), focusing on landing marquis clients such as Cisco Systems, AMC Theatres, Newell Rubbermaid, Turner Broadcasting, and Chick-fil-A. Soon after Engauge was acquired, Joe recognized a gap in the market that he was uniquely suited to help fill - helping brands and agencies connect with each other. He founded AgencySparks in early 2014 to solve these problems.
Joe continues to give back to the marketing community by serving on the board of directors for various marketing organizations, including the American Marketing Association (AMA Atlanta), the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association (AIMA), and the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He also volunteers weekly at Everybody Wins! Atlanta, and is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Accelerator program.
Joe often jokes that he uses his Speech Communications major from Wake Forest University every day and his Politics major more frequently than he would like.
When Joe isn’t working, he loves to discover new music (he hosts a weekly radio show at GumboShow.com) and spend time with his wife, Michelle, and twin children, Joss and Radley. He spends most weekends supporting his kids’ activities, playing tennis, and immersing himself in music.
Kate Jacoutot graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Marketing, concentration in Digital Media, and certificate in Music Business. After working in IT sales for a short time, Kate made the transition into becoming a marketing consultant. She has experience in working with multiple clients in both a sales and marketing capacity, enabling her to provide a unique perspective on our business.
Kate is responsible for the managing AgencySparks' paid digital media, social media, and analytics efforts.
Business Development Manager
Ethan grew up on a small farm in Gray, Georgia, where his family raised cows, horses, chickens, goats, and hunting dogs. As is the case in many small towns, he grew up knowing everyone and making connections within the community. In 2014, Ethan graduated from Mercer University with a degree in history and business administration. Shortly after, he moved to Atlanta and pursued an outside sales role/store management position at a locally-owned Ace Hardware. Faced with the challenge of supply and pricing constraints often imposed upon local businesses trying to compete with logistical giants, Ethan had to find a way to sell products that were not competitively priced by building strong relationships with Atlanta businesses, often hand-delivering product to the end-customer. Ethan’s small town skill set in making genuine connections with people and establishing relationships that go beyond the surface enable him to effectively understand and connect agencies with brand marketers.
In his spare time, Ethan explores his various interests, including men’s fashion, reading, traveling, history, food, politics, animals, personal fitness, and soccer. Ethan is a straight shooter, and wants to be remembered as a clear thinker with defined beliefs.
Kayla Floyd is currently pursuing a degree in digital marketing from The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, with an expected graduation date of December, 2016. We first noticed Kayla when she took part in UGA’s Digital Marketing Competition, where she and her teammates pitched the winning idea to Coca-Cola Freestyle, showing us that her strengths lie in her positive attitude and innovative thinking. Her aptitude in working with people combined with a knack for staying on top of her work and keeping things organized makes her a prime candidate for a future account management role at a marketing agency. Ultimately, Kayla wants to leverage the power of marketing to create a positive impact on society.
Kayla gives back to her community by utilizing her organizational skill set to assist in planning events. She was a member of the “Around Atlanta” board for Spotlight Events at Georgia State and served as the Director of External Relations for the UGA chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys traveling, exercise, and volunteering with children. Kayla can be found exploring new restaurants and nightlife in Atlanta, hanging out with her friends and family, drinking excessive amounts of coffee, and enjoying music and pop culture.
